High Potency Delta 8 THC Products for Sale

Thanks to consistent education and meticulous research, the dazed-and-confused stigma of non-intoxicating hemp starts to dissipate.

This was possible mostly thanks to the beneficial cannabinoid CBD, but as scientists explore the potential benefits of other cannabinoids, there’s another candidate for the spotlight — delta-8 THC.

Delta-8 THC (delta-8-tetrahydrocannabinol) is the next trending cannabinoid that few people have heard of. This non-intoxicating compound is one of the most abundant cannabinoids in hemp, often confused with its cousin delta-9 THC, which is responsible for the signature psychoactive effects in some cannabis strains.

Advancements in extraction processes have enabled manufacturers to maximize the yield of delta-8 THC as the demand for this cannabinoid is rising. Despite being a topic of debate, delta-8 THC products are legal in most states. At Area 52, we provide a traditional selection of premium delta-8 THC extracts, including tinctures, gummies, and vape cartridges.

What is Delta 8 THC?

Delta-8 THC is one of the many cannabinoids that are secreted by cannabis plants. Think of it as the cousin of delta-9 THC, the major intoxicating component in cannabis, but without the overwhelming effects. Delta 8 THC can make you feel relaxed, clear headed, heavier in the body — but it doesn’t get you high.

Delta-8 THC occurs in very low concentrations in CBD hemp flower (less than 0.1%). However, manufacturers can extract it using other cannabinoids, such as delta-9 THC to make it into a concentrated form. One of the possible extraction methods involves converting delta-9 THC, which has a similar molecular structure, into delta-8.

Delta-8 THC products are made similarly to other hemp products. The isolated extract can be infused into a carrier oil to make tinctures or capsules, or mixed into an edible base to create gummies. There are also vape cartridges using delta-8 THC and thinning agents in order to make the cannabinoid vapable.

Does Delta-8 THC Get You High?

The psychoactivity of delta-8 THC is difficult to describe. Some users describe similar effects to those provided by delta-9 THC, but without the overwhelming buzz it can trigger in high doses. Most users report clear-headed effects that help them manage stress without sedation or any kind of impairment. In many aspects, the effects of delta-8 THC are quite opposite to delta-9 THC.

That being said, everyone is different, and the potency of delta-8 THC products may vary, so it’s recommended to err on the side of caution.

How Do You Use Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 THC typically comes in the form of distillate because it occurs in such low concentrations in cannabis plants. The final delta-8 THC product has a thick translucent consistency that resembles CBD distillates. Extracting delta-8 THC is a multifaceted process, in which the plant material goes through various refinement processes, including extraction, winterization, and decarboxylation.

You can actually use delta-8 THC like any other hemp-derived product. D8 can be vaporized using a standard vape pen or dab rig. It can also be infused into tinctures, edibles, or capsules. More research is needed to determine the bioavailability of different consumption methods of D8 extracts.

The most common uses for delta-8 THC products include:

  • Sublingual use
  • Edibles
  • Mixing with flower
  • Vaping
  • Dabbing

What Are the Benefits of Delta 8 THC? (What Studies Say)

Research on delta-8 THC is limited, although the preclinical findings appear to be promising. There are currently several patents for making delta–8 THC extracts. As researchers dive deeper into the potential health benefits of D8 products, we might be hearing more about this newly trending cannabinoid in the near future.

Here’s what studies have found:

Antitumor Effects

A study published by the National Cancer Institute concluded that delta–8 THC, along with delta–9 THC and CBN were able to inhibit the growth of Lewis lung tumoral cells in vitro and in vivo. Other tumors have also been shown to respond to cannabinoid-induced growth inhibition.

Antiemetic Activity

In a 1995 study published in Life Sciences, delta–8 THC was mentioned as a compound with anti-nausea properties with minimal side effects in subjects.

Appetite Stimulation

A 2004 study cited by Pharmacological Biochemistry suggested that even extremely low doses of delta-8 THC can increase appetite and cognitive function in mice. However, the results need to be replicated on human samples before we can draw definitive conclusions.

Reduction of Physical Discomfort

Topical delta-8 THC formulations with an addition of CBD were shown by a 2018 study to demonstrate analgesic properties, reducing inflammation and changing the way pain signals are transmitted.

What Are the Side Effects of delta-8 THC?

Current research observing the side effects of delta-8 THC products found that they were insignificant compared to more common alternatives. However, the research into the safety and efficacy of delta-8 THC is still in its early stage.

While delta-8-THC is said to be less psychoactive, it is possible to go overboard and experience excess sedation on top of redness of the eyes and dry mouth. Start slow and low and assess your tolerance to get the most out of your delta–8 THC product without experiencing the above side effects.

Is Delta-8 THC Legal?

Delta-8 THC became legal in most US states after the 2018 Farm Bill. As described by section 297A of the bill, “The term ‘hemp’ means the plant Cannabis sativa L. and any part of that plant, including the seeds thereof and all derivatives, extracts, cannabinoids, isomers, acids, salts, and salts, and salts of isomers, whether growing or not, with a delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol concentration of not more than 0.3 percent on a dry weight basis.” There are some controversies regarding the DEA’s stance on the legality of delta–8 extraction methods, but no specific actions have yet been taken to address this problem.

Can You Test Positive for Delta-9 THC Using Delta-8 THC Products?

Not all drug tests distinguish between delta-9 THC and delta-8 THC due to their close chemical structure — so using delta-8 THC can potentially result in a false positive test for delta-9 THC, even if they’ve never consumed THC-rich cannabis.
