Are these magical shroom gummies legal?
Yes, Amanita muscaria and its extracts are federally legal in the United States. The only exception is the state of Louisiana, which banned Amanita muscaria as part of the Louisiana State Act 159, which bans over 40 plant and fungi species. We do not ship to Louisiana and will cancel any orders discovered to be using mail forwarding services to bypass this.
Are the Magic Pluto Mushroom Gummies lab-tested?
Yes, all of our products, including these shroom gummies, are sent to a third-party lab for testing. We test for muscimol, ibotenic acid, and tryptamines like psilocybin or psilocin. We also test for heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, and microbial contaminants or mycotoxins.

How is Amanita muscaria different from other magical mushrooms?
Amanita muscaria contains muscimol and ibotenic acid as the active ingredients. These compounds are entirely unrelated to other fungal-derived compounds like psilocybin or psilocin.
Muscimol and ibotenic acid act on the cholinergic system, while psilocybin and psilocin are serotonergic. Psilocybin-containing mushrooms are also classified as Schedule I drugs in the United States, while muscimol-containing fungi are not.
Our gummies do not contain psilocybin or psilocin.
Is Amanita muscaria toxic?
Amanita muscaria is not toxic when prepared properly. The raw mushrooms contain a high concentration of a compound called ibotenic acid, which is a known neurotoxin. This compound is eliminated during processing — properly, leaving behind the safe (and active) muscimol.
It’s critical that all amanita products are lab-tested to prove they have been processed in a way that removes ibotenic acid from the final product.
How long do the effects of Area 52 Magic Pluto Gummies last?
Our Pluto Gummies kick in slowly over the course of about 1–1.5 hours. The effects are subtle at first but become more pronounced as time goes by. Peak effects usually hit around 2-3 hours after taking them and start to taper off after that. The entire journey usually lasts about 4–6 hours.
Can I cultivate Amanita muscaria at home?
Unlike other species of active fungi, Amanita muscaria cannot be cultivated. It lives inside the roots of trees. This symbiotic relationship between mushroom and tree is essential for it to survive. Despite numerous skilled mycologists tackling the problem of cultivation, Amanita muscaria remains stubborn and will not bend to humanity’s will to conquer it.
