Introducing the newest member of our cannabinoid family — HHC.

This fully legal, hemp-derived cannabinoid is found in small concentrations in the leaves and flowers of cannabis. After spending several months growing and maturing in the hot summer sun, something incredible happens — many of the cannabinoids start to break down, some turning into CBN, others to HHC.

Cannabinoids, like all things, strive to reach the lowest energetic state — like water seeking the lowest ground.

HHC is the embodiment of this fundamental goal. It’s the most stable cannabinoid possible yet maintains all the characteristic effects you’ve come to expect from its close relatives, delta 8 and delta 9.

HHC: Hydrogen-Fuelled Cannabinoid

All cannabinoids consist of just three elements — carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen. What makes them distinct is the way these elements are assembled together.

The difference this can make is significant. Consider the formula for CBD vs. THC — two entirely distinct compounds in terms of their effects. Both contain exactly the same amount of atoms — 21 carbons, 30 hydrogens, and 2 oxygens.

HHC is a bit different; this compound has two additional hydrogens, for a total of 32.

This simple difference gives HHC a substantially longer shelf-life than other cannabinoids and offers a few minor differences to its perceived effects.

What Does HHC Feel Like? 👾

If you’ve used cannabinoids before, the effects of HHC won’t be unfamiliar. Most people who take it report the effects as being “relaxing, creative, and mind-expanding.”

HHC is most comparable to delta 8 THC in terms of its effects — but it’s about 1.5X stronger. It’s relaxing (both physically and mentally) when used in low to moderate doses.

In higher doses, the effects of HHC transition towards a more elated and energetic state.

This cannabinoid is just as useful for winding down at the end of the day as it is for facilitating deeper levels of focus, enabling more room for divergent thinking, and enhancing one's ability to enter creative flow states.

high-Quality HHC: Safety Is Paramount

There are a lot of problems in the cannabinoid market today. Poor extractions can contaminate the final product with all kinds of nasty chemicals — including organic solvents (hexane, butane, or ether), heavy metals (cadmium, lead, arsenic, nickel), as well as a vast array of unknown and unwanted chemical byproducts. Many of these contaminants are toxic.

We believe quality is paramount and strive to maintain everything we do with the highest degree of integrity possible. It took many months of hard work and a lot of failures to develop a clean and efficient process for isolating HHC — but it was well worth the wait.

Everything we sell at Area 52 has been rigorously tested (both in-house and by a third-party lab), and we maintain a very low margin for error.

How We Make Our HHC

The old way of making HHC relied on the use of heavy metals — but this wasn’t going to cut it for us. The process is efficient and cheap but carries a high risk for contamination.

Instead, we use a process that leverages enzymes naturally found in gastric juice to facilitate our HHC isolation. This process takes time and is more expensive, but the final product is pure, clean, and potent — everything you’ve come to expect from the Area 52 lineup.

HHC FAQs

Is HHC Legal?

Yes, HHC is legal in most US states as long as it’s derived from hemp and maintains no more than 0.3% THC (the federal limit).

All our HHC comes from industrial hemp farms in California and Colorado and is tested to ensure all samples remain within the legal limits.

Is HHC Found in Nature?

Yes, HHC is found in nature — albeit in low concentrations.

There are several different types of HHC, but the kind we’re using is called cannabiripsol, which has been discovered in several samples of naturally-occurring Cannabis sativa.

Does HHC Get You High?

The effects of HHC are very similar to delta 8 and delta 9 THC. It’s known to alter sensory perception, alter mood, and temporarily shift the mind towards more divergent thought.

The potency of HHC sits somewhere in between D8 and D9. However, everybody is different. It’s important to start with a low dose of HHC when first trying it and only increase the amount once you’re familiar with how your body responds.

Can You Test Positive For THC After Using HHC?

There are a lot of misleading reports that HHC doesn’t register on a test for THC. This is untrue. There are several reports of people using HHC who then tested positive for THC.

HHC metabolizes into 11-hydroxy-THC, which is the compound most often tested for in THC drug tests.

If you have an upcoming or regularly scheduled drug test, we recommend allowing at least 2 weeks between your last dose of HHC and the upcoming test.
